The appropriate wavelength for the UV detection of proteins ranges from 190 to 280 nm. If possible, protein detection should be performed at low wavelengths, where the sensitivity is much higher [94]. The CE method chosen, however, may place some restrictions on the detection wavelength. Figure 7 shows the adsorbance of the spacer molecules used in a CIEF at 200 nm. Obviously, these spacers would be detected at this wavelength, while no such interference would occur at a detection wavelength of 280 nm.
